项目基本情况:
The Turbocharger Research Institute (TRI) at the University of Huddersfield has been established to support companies at the forefront of this world-leading technology and to conduct research relating to the use of turbochargers in the fields of:
Structural integrity
Computational simulation
NVH
Complex applications
Systems engineering
Test methodologies

This research covers the full range of turbocharger applications from small vehicle engines to large low speed marine engines.

The institute brings together experienced professionals who have spent a significant amount of time working in the turbocharger and engine industries throughout the world. This gives us an unparalleled and unique insight into the field.

The University has formed a strategic partnership with BorgWarner Turbo Systems to conduct a multi-million pound research programme into the engineering of turbocharger systems for future applications. The collaboration has been awarded a major Regional Growth Fund grant to establish a new Turbocharger Engineering MSc and support turbocharger research activities.

As a result, we are able to offer 1 fully funded PhD post within the TRI. The PhD will be in the area of compressor cover design optimisation. Research themes will include a systems engineering approach to aerodynamic performance simulation and testing, stress and fatigue modelling and testing and design for manufacture and assembly.

The TRI is able to provide a supportive learning environment and access to supervisors who are specialists in their field. Our first class links to the turbocharger industry provide access to data, industry knowledge and expert practitioners to support our programmes. In addition, the University provides a range of professional development courses to help you develop your research skills.

A fee waiver and a tax free bursary of £13,865* will be available for each PhD.
*estimated for 2014/15
